Greg and I were sitting and talking one morning over a bowl of Cheerios. He had a chastising look on his face (accompanied by a crinkly smile), like I was about to get a lecture.
"What's up with you?" I asked, preemptively
"I've been reading about lupus and inflammation," he answered.
"And?"
"One of the things that causes inflammation is added sugar. You really shouldn't add sugar to your cereal."
"A half a teaspoon? Really? Does it matter that much?"
"A half a teaspoon is still sugar. I worry about you."
After a long pause, "Really???." I asked angrily. "You're telling me to eliminate a half teaspoon of sugar from my cereal, while you continue to put that crap up your nose that's ruining your life? Really?"
"Ironic, isn't it," he said sadly.
"I'll give up the sugar, Greg. Thank you for caring."
"Thanks, Mom."
