About the time, I thought I might actually cry myself to death, Richard stopped by to check on me. He knelt on the floor and held me while I cried - and shook - and tried to pull myself together.
Always (unless he's really cranky - and he can get cranky) his voice calms me and somehow, life makes some kind of sense again. His smile (and he smiles a lot) gives me hope. :-)
I had just about gained my equilibrium, when Greg's oldest two sons (who are 19 next week... and 17 in October) came to see me.
Drug addiction seems to drag chaos and drama around with it. These boys have been caught in the middle of chaos, drama, and heartbreak that no child (of any age) should have to experience.
There has been a wall between their family and our family that never should have existed. Thanks to the efforts of Scott and Richard, those walls are down. I pray they stay down.
Their visit was a touch by God - a gift. I was sure that God had crossed me off his list and that He had abandoned me. His voice has been silent - His presence unfelt. This visit reassured me that He is there - even when I don't believe it.
We had a wonderful couple of hours - talking - sharing - laughing. (If you had told me 3 hours before they came that I would laugh today, I would have had someone come for you with a straight jacket.) Richard stayed for a while, but eventually he needed to leave.
Greg's sons are tall and handsome - and my first two grandchildren. They told me they'll be back. I hope so.
My next door neighbors came today and stayed until after 11:00 pm. I was exhausted but grateful for the visit and to be busy.
