I'm trying. I really am. Trying to... what? Be normal? What's normal for this?
My grandson had his first football game of the season today, so I was happy to go watch him. He loves to play and I love to be one of his biggest fans. It's a fit.
His games are about 40-45 minutes away and what did I forget to take with me today? Oxygen. Really??? I keep the tank that I'm using in the car and a spare on the back seat, so that I always have oxygen. I didn't remember taking the tank into the house on Friday, so it didn't occur to me that I didn't have a tank in the car. Pretty stupid. And the spare in the back? It's no use without the regulator that you take from the now-used tank (that was still at home) and transfer to the spare.
We didn't have time to go home and get back to the game, so I made a decision to go ahead and use my scooter and hope for the best. Not my best move. No whining allowed when you make a poor decision so I'll just say... lesson learned.
Do you get points for good grieving behavior - doing 'normal' things - acting 'fine' - going to games? Or do you lose points for bad grieving behavior - crying at inappropriate times - being needy - not wanting to see anyone?
The conventional thinking is that however you need to grieve, it's okay - but in reality, it depends on where you are or who you're with.
What is appropriate grieving? I'm confused - and lost.
